Are You a Village Person?

No, I'm not going to lead us all in a rousing chorus of YMCA, but you have to admit it's the first thing that comes to mind when I say
Village People.

Are you one?

I admit, I am not.

My aunt had 2 villages, I think the Dickens and the North Pole and she had many pieces.  I always admired them and whenever I see them all set out in the store I love to look at all of the details.
But I never wanted one.

It requires a lot of space both to set up and to store.
I have lots and lots of other things I collect for Christmas.
And, I don't have the knack for display that is very much needed to make an interesting village.

With all of that being said,
let me introduce you to my village.
{sorry blurry pic, but I couldn't retake as the light got worse as the day wore on and it doesn't really matter as my display actually looks better if you can't see the details.}

In case you can't tell, it's a Disney village.

My grands love the little villages that they have at their house.
So when I saw this Disney village that was it.  We have taken them to Disney the past 3 Januarys.  We are skipping this year because we weren't sure how Claire would do.  { You have to book so far in advance.  And there is that pesky thing called school too;-( }

But we plan to go in January 2015!!

So far I have 3 houses, with 1 more ordered and the plans are to have 5, one for each grand.

They are really cute, and all of the accessories are cute too ~ just don't think I like it in my family room.

But it's here for this year and perhaps next year it will get moved upstairs to the kid zone.  With a couple of little kiddos we need to have it where we can keep our eye on it for now.

So, I still don't think I am a village person, but what I won't do to get the grandchildren all excited:-)

I'm almost done with the Christmas decorating.  13 tubs down, 7 to go.

Joining Richella for her Grace at Home Party.

Sue, I love your little village! I tried to start one when my girls were little; but, it just never came together. I love seeing them on display, though.

I have the Dept 56 original snow village. I started gifting pieces to my daughters last year. I have them down to two huge boxes to store. This year I started only buying churches. I eventually, will give all the city peices to my daughters to enjoy. (store) :) So, yes, I am a village person too.

I think your village is cute and once you get the other pieces you may like it more. I like the spot (even if you don't). I know the kiddos will love it and how special that you are doing it for them.

I LOVE that you do this just for your grandchildren! How sweet of you--I'm sure they must be fascinated by the little village. I hope I'm the kind of grandmother you are! :)

I'm not even sure where to start...
I haven't been here since you changed your header, and I LOVE it. I'm so glad to see the whole big wonderful clan on there with the perfect little completer named Claire. Your grandchildren (and chldren) are all so beautiful.

I have truly missed blog land for a hundred different reasons. Yes, it took up time, but I always leave so inspired and happy. Today is no exception because I loved your little Disney Village and think it's perfect for your family.

As for me? I have three little houses from the literary works collection. (Little Women, Great Expectations, and Tom Sawyer.) I had thought about collecting more, but I'm too cheap and lost interest. I guess I'm more of a village mooch and enjoy other people's collections instead.

As you might expect, my mom has a huge one that she leaves up all year. It is housed on some shelves so it's unobtrusive but still pretty.

Merry Christmas to one of my model Grandmas. You set such a great example. I mean that!

Hi sweet friend!

I didn't even know there was a Mickey village, but it sure is cute. Our youngest grandson is a Mickey fanatic.

I'm jealous you're in Palm Desert. We love it there. Can't wait for our two weeks in March. Have fun.

Hugs,
Kat
