Happy Birthday Ben!

Our first birthday of 2014 is grandson #1, Benjamin.
He is now 7 and I can hardly believe it.

I would like to try to have a little celebration for each birthday at my house.
Ben got to choose the menu, pizza, and the theme, football.
Such a funny theme for him, he certainly doesn't play football, he must watch it with his dad.

His retired grandpa has a lot of time on his hands and decorated a football tablecloth.
to scale ~

The birthday goblets are all ready to toast the birthday boy with root beer and green apple soda.  I had to choose the drinks to match my theme!

Our big 7 year old.
He is a sweet boy, loves to be silly, and is best buds with cousin Cooper.

Love this shot of the matching guys.  {Even the Bud matches!}
They are filling out the football pool.
We put the kids on almost every square and I still think the grownups won.

It was a beautiful day and so we had to go out back and have a silly string fight.
I think that will always be something they associate with grandma and grandpa.
Just something fun and silly and a little messy.
They love it as the pictures prove.

Although poor Claire didn't know what to think.  She hung on to mom's hand the whole time.

Uncle Ryan gets the birthday boy, and Ben loves every minute.

So does Cooper.

Jackson too!

I'm not too sure what Claire thinks.

Elizabeth loves it and just look at her hair!

Claire and Jackson spent a little time in the playhouse.
{I have taken the Christmas down since these pics!}

And then it was time for cake.
I think the sparkler candle will be tradition too.
A little frightening, and a whole lot of fun!

Happy 7 Benny Boy!
We love you so much!

This is just the cutest thing ever! You win GiGi of the year;)! I adore the tablecloth...the hubs did a beautiful job! I am dying over your painted kitchen too! When did you do it? I am so itching to do the same...just not sure where to stop...we have soooo much stained wood. The cabinets, built ins in the family room all of the trim...it is endless. In any case your kitchen looks amazing! You should share in a post;)...please!

Sue, I smiled while reading this entire post! The looks of sheer joy on the kids' faces just made my day! I always think, "Wow, these kids are gonna have some awesome memories, as they grow up!" Even the tablecloth was amazing! Hubby did a great job!

I just have to show this one to my husband. It is going to make him smile all over. I love the tablecloth your husband made. See? A whole new side of the ramblin' retiree... now he's a party planner!

Claire must be overwhelmed with the love and joy of the family she is now part of. It all looks wonderful to me.

Happy belated birthday to your Ben!
