I didn't want to miss Kim's Boring to Better Party, and since my house is half way between Christmas and clean, I thought I would post a picture of last year's project.
The picture below is of our house, as it looked when we purchased it. Beige walls, and darker beige trim. This is the looong hallway leading from our living room to the library {on your right}, guest bath, and at the end of the hall, guest room.
One problem remained ~ 2 plain builder ceiling fixtures. I wanted a mini chandelier or lantern, but had no luck finding a "bargain."
But I saw this cutie at my sister's, copied her, and blogged about it here.
I like it ~
I want to thank Kim for featuring my backyard kitchen from last week's party!
Thanks Kim!

This is lovely, Kim! I think it is the same Lauren pattern I have in my bedroom!
I love these Sue! They would be perfect in my matching hallway;)! Do you have a couple of extra laying around? Love the curtains too!
XOXO

Wow, what a transformation girl! I love the curtains as I am just getting ready to do that project I might just steal this style...love the ceiling painted, just makes huge difference with everything you did.
I love it, I have a long hall too and want to replace the same light fixture. I guess we don't have that same lumberyard here?
I had to go back and read about the light fixture. I guess the Lumber Yard is a store? Around here, the lumber yard is a yard, and it's full of lumber.
I love the hallway! Your taste is so excellent. I'm determined to make some changes this year too, and some old boring light fixtures will be taking a hike or getting a face lift.
I'm sure I'll be snooping around here for some inspiration.
Sue, those lights are perfect with your style. I still have some lights to replace up in our hallway and they are the ones I chose 15 years ago when brass was the rage. Of course hubby thinks they are just fine. Not! I love those drapes. Thanks for joining again this week.
What a beautiful job you did! I haven't seen a hallway that pretty in ages. Painting the ceiling yellow was a stroke of genius and the light fixtures have such style.
Sue your home is elegant and welcoming. Wow! I love your pendant lights. So pretty. :)
